All around the country, people with learning disabilities are meeting in small groups, discussing their experiences, using the stories they discover in our books to help make sense of life. Most of these Book Clubs meet in libraries, growing into supportive social hubs which develop in the same way as any other book club: some have invited speakers to talk about specific topics, or organised trips based on new interests.

Beyond Words are now offering faith-based communities the opportunity to use their own venues to start their own book clubs and reach out to local people with learning disabilities. We are providing free training to allow faith-based communities to explore this.

Training: Introduction to Beyond Words: How to start-up Book Clubs and reading groups in faith group community settings.

Who For? Leaders and volunteers from any faith-based community interested in starting up their own regular Book Club or reading group.

Thursday 27th April, 1:00pm - 4:00pm
