Emily at the Smoking Cessation & Health conference 2025 with Joe & Julie Stop Smoking

On 5th March 2025 our Publishing Manager, Emily Hollins, and Expert Author, Keri-Michelle Lodge, met in York where they had been asked to give a rapid fire presentation at the Smoking Cessation & Health conference 2025.

We had submitted a proposal earlier on in the year with a request to tell people about our latest title Joe and Julie Stop Smoking. It had been a nervous time whilst we waited to hear whether our proposal had been accepted. Once we learnt we were being invited to present we had to create a five minute presentation that would tell a completely new audience about the benefits of visual literacy for people with learning disabilities and convince them to use our book as one of their resources.

Our preparation paid off, as our presentation lasted 4 minutes and 58 seconds. In our excitement we had completly forgotten that there was also a competition for the best presentation… so we were incredibly surprised and delighted to be named as winners!
