Books Beyond Words has been empowering people with learning disabilities for 35 years. From our very first book, When Dad Died, we’ve been working to help people understand the world around them. A regular donation from you will help us continue to make a huge difference.
Now, for the first time ever, we are asking for your help. With operating costs increasing and securing funding more challenging, we need our supporters to help us survive.

Julie lives in Kent, where she is a co-facilitator of one of our Beyond Words Book Clubs. Through her Book Club, Julie tells us she’s had fantastic experiences. She has reduced her isolation by reconnecting with a childhood friend, her confidence has soared as she’s learnt to become an expert book trialler, and even authored her own Beyond Words book!
“I’m proud of what I’ve done. I had a lot of fun writing the book. My parents came to the book launch – they didn’t know what was going on! They were really surprised, they didn’t realise I’d authored a book.”
